Volunteer Spotlight: Dzenan Berberovic

In honor of National Volunteer Week, we’re recognizing a few of the many amazing volunteers who make Pi Kappa Alpha great.

Dzenan Berberovic (South Dakota, Kappa Pi ’08) has served Pi Kappa Alpha in numerous roles since 2011, including as Kappa Pi Chapter’s recruitment advisor and chapter advisor and as the Great Plains Regional President.

“I volunteer for the Fraternity because I share a deep sense of gratitude for what it has given me over the years. I can’t repay Pi Kappa Alpha for all our Fraternity has given me. It is important to give back to what has inspired each of us. The day I joined Pi Kappa Alpha is the day that forever changed my life. In PIKE, I found some of my deepest friends in life: chapter brothers, my PIKE consultant class, and the many Pikes I met, both as a consultant and now as a volunteer. I can’t imagine a day in my life without Pi Kappa Alpha. PIKE brothers have been a source of encouragement for me during my undergraduate years and beyond.”

Professionally, he is the Chief Philanthropy Officer of Avera Health and having the ability to advise with the help of technology makes his role easier.

“The chapter volunteer model has evolved over the years, and I remain connected as a chapter volunteer and Regional President through videoconferencing and conference call capabilities. We are all busy with family, professional, and other volunteer commitments. Technology allows us to positively volunteer for Pi Kappa Alpha. Thanks to technology, the most qualified volunteers are able to support chapters, regardless of where they reside. This ensures that undergraduate members are served by capable volunteers who will assist the chapter in growing.”

Say thank you to a volunteer who has impacted your PIKE experience, or join the volunteer ranks.
