Meet Paul A. A. Zullo (Western Carolina, Zeta Xi ’85)!
When Paul returned home to Sylva, North Carolina, in 2010, he did not expect to become deeply involved in PIKE again.
Initiated into Zeta Xi Chapter in 1985, Zullo graduated from Western Carolina University in 1988 and began a career dedicated to helping others navigate difficult moments. After starting with the State Employees’ Credit Union, he joined Integon Insurance in 1990. Through decades of company changes, mergers, and growth, Zullo remained committed to serving people with honesty, clarity, and compassion. Today, he serves as a Senior Field Appraiser with National General Insurance, an Allstate company.
Though he stayed close with brothers from his undergraduate years, Zullo had been largely away from active fraternity involvement for two decades. That changed when he was asked to serve as President of the Zeta Xi House Corporation. Encouraged by the support of fellow alumni, he stepped into the role from 2010 to 2015 and began a new chapter of service to his fraternity.
In 2019, Zullo was asked to assist in the reestablishing of Zeta Xi Chapter as its advisor. While he had only served as Rush Chairman during his undergraduate experience, he found support from alumni, regional volunteers, chapter consultants, and Memorial Headquarters as he helped guide the chapter through its return to campus.
“Serving as Chapter Advisor has become one of the most meaningful parts of my life,” Zullo shares. “It’s not about reliving my college days; it’s about helping these young men navigate theirs.”
For Zullo, advising is rooted in mentorship, accountability, and being a steady presence for the men of Zeta Xi Chapter. Whether it is having a difficult conversation, celebrating a chapter achievement, or simply making sure a brother knows he has someone in his corner, Zullo is committed to helping young men grow into leaders who carry themselves with integrity.
That commitment has also become personal for the Zullo family. Paul and his wife, Patricia, have been married for nearly four decades and are the parents of Dominic and McKenna. His son, Dominic, grew up around PIKE, accompanying Paul to chapter meetings and house projects as a child. Years later, Paul had the opportunity to participate in Dominic’s initiation into the fraternity, a moment he describes as one of the most joyous memories of his life. Today, Dominic serves alongside his father on the Zeta Xi Alumni Advisory Board.
“For me, it is about being present, being steady, and being someone they can count on,” Zullo says. “That’s my way of giving back.”
Through his professional career, service to Zeta Xi Chapter, and dedication to his family, Zullo continues to live out the values of friendship, love, and truth while helping ensure the next generation of Pikes has the guidance and support to succeed.
