MEMPHIS, TN – Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity is pleased to announce Franklin Castro (Gannon, Epsilon Upsilon ’18) as the January 2021 Pike of the Month. Pike of the Month award recipients demonstrate the True Pike ideals, working to improve themselves and having a positive impact on their chapters, campuses, and communities.

Castro, a senior at Gannon University, was nominated for demonstrating superior leadership in his chapter, on campus, and in the community.

He has served Epsilon Upsilon Chapter as president, sergeant-at-arms, secretary, and new member education assistant. Under his leadership, the chapter achieved the highest fraternal GPA on campus. He was instrumental in recently welcoming the largest recruitment class on campus.

As an international student from Honduras, Castro proudly serves as chair of the Intercultural Collaboration Committee for the university’s honors program. He is actively involved with the Global Student Organization, International Hispanic Association, and Center for Social Concerns and Global Exploration. He was also recently selected as a student orientation leader. In his free time, Castro has participated in alternative spring break trips to provide translation services.

Castro is the recipient of the university’s St. Catherine Medal for displaying outstanding leadership, scholarship, and service. He maintains a 3.9 GPA and presence on the Dean’s List.

Castro will graduate with a degree in accounting. He plans to pursue graduate school.
