
Kimberly J. Novak
Ms. Kimberly Novak joined the staff in 2013 and serves as Pi Kappa Alpha’s staff as the Director for Health & Safety. In this role, she provides training and support specific to health and safety for chapter leadership, collegiate members, volunteers and staff. In addition to role on the PIKE Team, Kim is the CEO of NovakTalks, a higher education consulting firm that specializes in facilitating the development of strategic prevention, intervention and accountability initiatives. A foundational characteristic of her team’s our work is the involvement of students in the governance of their organizations. We fundamentally believe in the value of the student voice.
Kim is recognized as a thought-leader in Student Organization Conduct having worked in student conduct administration for over 25 years. She is frequently called up to educate campus professionals and international fraternity staffs on the design as well as implementation of organization conduct systems. In 2007 Kim lead the development of the Interdisciplinary Institute for Hazing Prevention, the first educational experience designed to apply the principles and framework for prevention to the issue of hazing. The Institute is now in its 14th year and continues to be the leading hazing prevention program in higher education.
Kim has been awarded countless honors for her work with college students and professionals. Including Interfraternal accolades from Kappa Alpha Order, Zeta Beta Tau, Pi Kappa Phi, and Sigma Phi Beta. She has been honored by students with the outstanding advisor award form Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, Texas A&M University, and Arizona State University. Her colleagues have honored her with AFA’s Sue Kraft Fussell Distinguished Service Award, The ASCA Distinguished Service Award, as well as a North American Inter-Fraternal Conference Silver Medal for her leadership in advancing hazing prevention within the fraternal movement. In 2020 she was honored with The Dr. Kalem Riess Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Southeastern Greek Leadership Association.
Kim is a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity. She approaches her work with college students and those that support them with the heart of an advocate.
