Across the nation, people are dealing with sudden changes to their regular schedules and feelings of uncertainty, anxiety, and even loss and grief, as a result of COVID-19

Among those people are the men of Pi Kappa Alpha, many of whom are returning to a campus experiences that is unlike anything they have experienced while others will be continuing to connect with their classmates and brothers virtually in the coming months.

It’s completely expected and appropriate to experience anxiety during situations like these. It is imperative that the men in your chapter actively engage in not only self-help, but also making sure that they are connecting with each other. Chapter leadership that take the time to make mental health concerns part of their dialogue are sending the message that Pikes care about one another, and that seeking support for mental health concerns is encouraged.

Press Pause encourages students to use simple mindfulness techniques, like breathing exercises, meditation, perspective checks, music, and movement, to deal with stresses and challenges that can make young adults feel overwhelmed or hopeless.

“Whatever Gets You Talking” is a new music video to help provide the inspiration, language, and tools to check in with your friends and support their mental health. The video speaks directly to young people who might be looking for a way to reach out to a friend about their mental health. It brings to life countless conversation starters and ways to reach out and emphasizes that just because we’re physically distant doesn’t mean brothers or friends should remain socially distant.
